Family Portraits

This week I got to shoot some family photos some friends. It was experience, it is sure a lot different from shooting solo portraits, but a good outcome and some good money. Thats always good. I didn’t get a whole lot of other shooting in this week, I really wanted to shoot some urban stuff but it didn’t happen due to the quick loss of snow.

On to the family photos. The ones out doors were shot with a high ISO due to how dark it was outside at the time and I didn’t want to flash because the reflection and shadows it brought. So I found this great software called Topaz DeNoise and seriously it blew my mind away with how much it saved me. I highly reccomend purchasing this software because this give you the chance to shoot indoors (or out doors) with low light and high ISO. The photos I though turned out great. It gave me a goo chance to break out of my norm and learn some more photography and get experience with multiple models.

The studio shots turned out I think better, Casey and Gabe (models) seemed to be a bit more photogenic and really brought out their true personalities. Here are the photos. Also Twitchell, I have the sketch for the surrealism at the bottom of the post.

For my surrealism project, I am really going for a combination of a dark, erie feeling. You are not able to see what my mind sees and I tried sketching it out, but I am a horrible drawer. It will be a combination of 5+ photos, Base layer is going to be a lake with a very slow shutter, so it looks like it is clouds. 2nd layer will be clouds with high detail and very enhanced with texture. 3rd lay will conceive of a sunset, but very dark, almost a purple color. 4th layer I want to get some mountains in between the lake and the sky. Final layer will be a person standing in the middle of the lake, larger than a normal person so it gives the model a superiority feeling and will have a great, dark feeling to the whole photo. I hope it turns out as I have planned :/

Multiple

This week I worked on a project of a single exposure and multiple flashes. As you can see in the photo, there are three of scott. I flashed 4 times, 1 to light up the area, 2 light up the first scott, 3 to light up the 2nd scott and 4 to light up the 3rd scott. I tried lots and lots of times but, I didn’t really get what I wanted. I would really like to try this again. This is the best one out of the many I tried. Some things That I don’t like a whole lot about this is the hot spot on scott. I had to get right up next to him to flash him, if I didn’t, scott would really be transparent and it didn’t look super amazing. If I try again, and probably will try again, I would use less power on the flash for sure. Also I did some skate photography, I really like some and others not so much. Brandon had a pretty hard time skating because of how cold it was and he really didn’t want to be there. After that this photo series my photography class that my teacher showed me it was about layers. And I tried some photos like that and got a pretty decent one and that was pleasing. Here are this weeks shots.

canada and some others.

This is a longer post due to not having a previous post for the week before. I was in Canada for Thanksgiving break which was really nice. Got to relax, take some photos, snowboard, play some kendama, sleep, and sit in the hot springs. Sleep, wow. It is a blessing to be caught up on my sleep. When I was up there, I didn’t get as many photos as I planned I would, but I still went out a few days on walks just shooting. Now on to the other photos; most of these didn’t have any specific topic, just working with some new ideas, breaking out of the same-old, same-old. With the pool shots, they are a tad bit noisy, but still are some fun photos. I really was working with lighting on the drum photos, which actually learned some sweet new stuff I plan on applying to some future projects. I have been taking my camera with me pretty much everywhere recently, just getting some different places is always fun.

Here are this weeks and last weeks photos:
