Ah, let the good weather be unleashed and the photos roll in.
Spring time: a time for beautiful photos and great sunsets. Great sunsets mean great photos so it all goes in a circle. Circle of Life for the camera? Possibly.
I have realized now that I have been blogging for over a year now and the photos I took then that I didn’t like, I love now. Maybe my eye is growing stronger or I have just started acknowledging the beauty of differences. I have seen lot’s of growth in my photography not just through the photos, but through shooting with a purpose. Sure I go out just to mess around with the camera (I guess that you could call that a purpose) but now I have really tried to start shooting with a drive and reason. This last week I have a little mix. I shot a little skating with Joey (http://josephrozol.blogspot.com/) and the photos were alright, no bangers just fun photos. Skateboarding is a fun sport to shoot. I have come to the conclusion that one there are thousands of styles for skate photography, and I have not fully developed a style for my skate photography. I have with my other work, but with skate photography I really would like to get a good style that people would recognize “ME” for. Now for the photos that I took with a so called “Drive”. I don’t know if I should exactly call them “drive” photos but they aren’t the typical, “let’s bring the camera downtown and see what I get” photos. These were more the photos I put emotion, thought and story behind. Something I try to include with all my photos is a story. Some might see a photo of mine and not see a single thing except colors (or the lack of color) but I encourage you to look deeper than the composition, lighting, tone, colors, ect… and really try to depict that story.
Please view these with more intention than just viewing for kicks, but rather view them to see a story and what’s going on.
Here they are:
With the photo of Scott on the merrygoround (took me for ever to find a place in CDA with a merrygoround) That is ƒ/36 and 10th of a second. In the camera RAW adjustments I stopped it down all the way and it is still a over exposed. This is a circumstance where I would really like a neutral density filter.
Thanks,
-Steve

Out of this group of picture I probably would say that the picture with the swing set is the best because the way the sun is in the picture is just cool.
I love these skate photos, they look pro. U=I take it you used a flash and It really directs the attention to the subject. It is very good positioning. I really like the one where he’s riding over the target ball, pretty sweet.
I really like the first picture of this group. I think the lighting and the color in the photo is amazing. The third picture is really interesting and I like the motion blur behind the subject. The two black and white photos are just plain awesome. I love the one of the swing set.
You continue to astonish me with your talent…for both your photography and your thoughtful writing. I, of course, favor the shot of Scott. My heart was filled with glee when I saw that photo! You’re awesome, Sweet One.
I like the shot of Joe doing the ole’ tuck knee over the red target ball alot. I like the pop shuv to, it’s very well taken. Where did you find a merrygoround? I wanna go have a session on one and I can’t find one absolutely any where. They used to have one down at the skate park but I don’t think they have it there anymore. But anyways, Good shots sturges, you do well with the camera.
I really liked the silhouette of the man walking. I really like silhouette photos…They may even be my FAVORITE. So you should take more silhouette pictures man, they’re cool.
I really like the style of photographs that you take. They really catch my eye on first site. I think that my favorite was the one of Scott on the merrygoround. I like how in focus he is and everything behind him is just a blur. It looks really awesome, and not to mention the expression on his face just makes the picture. I really liked all of them though(: Kudos!
Nice shots. I really liked the swing silhouette. And the sunset, sunset pics are my favorite!!! You should take some more, just for me of course. And as Jackson said, you do well with the camera!
Wow steve, your photography really is good. I enjoyed the picture of Scott on the merry-go-round, it is a fun picture. But, my favorites are the silhouette of the man walking and the guy on the swing. I just love that they are simple but yet strong images. I love the contrast of black and white. Also the sun makes the images great, how it is set and shining, I just love it! I think they are great pictures. All of your pictures are really great, and I love gettin on your blog to see what you write and the pictures that you take, they are really amazing. Goodddd jobbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!
I actually really like alllll of these pictures. The angles are amazing. I really like how the sun flares out around the guy on the swing. And The picture of the guy skating on the ball at Target- it looks really cool and kinda hard to do. I just love action shots. (:
These are really great photographs!! You have a really good eye. Your photos are very interesting and they are great to look at! The angles and lighting worked really well in these photo’s. Keep up your awesome photo taking abilities:)
I really liked these pictures. I like how you shot at different angles and how it was dark out, I think that really makes your subject pop. I also really liked your silhouette pictures. I like how the sun was behind them. Good Job
