For the Love of what you are probably asking yourself if you haven’t heard of Boarders For Christ or don’t live in Coeur d’Alene area. But For the Love is a benefitting fundraiser that BFC (Boarders For Christ) puts on. This one was specifically for the Shadrick family who is adopting two Ethiopian orphans from the YWAM orphanage in Ethiopia. Many local artists (including myself) donated pieces of their artwork or photography and the art was auctioned off. All the Art was very beautiful and it was such a blessing that people had such a desire to give. After the auction was over, the Shadricks had raised over $1,600 and 10% or that is going to the YWAM Orphanage and another 10% is headed toward Anthem’s (a local church) adoption ministry. If you would like to check out how the adoption process is going, which I highly suggest that you do, please go to theshadrickslove.com.
On to the photos I took at For The Love. I shot it all with a 50mm 1.8. I wasn’t really planning on taking photos but I had my camera so I figured I might as well snap some photos. The lighting in at Java On Sherman (where For The Love was held) is quite sad so I shot at ƒ/1.8 pretty much the whole evening which has its pluses and minuses. I love shooting people candid so this was a great opportunity for that for sure. Here are the photos from May 1st, 2010 For The Love of the Shadricks:

Now here are some fun little photos I took earlier in the week:
So you might be wondering what that “purple creepy thing” is. Well it is a Bucephalus Psychic Rat that is a plush toy of a cthulhu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulhu) that my photo teacher has to dissect for his own personal project. Haha.
Thanks a lot,

nice steve this really turned out good a lot of quality shots on here For the Love is a great thing they’ve got going
I really like a lot of these photos, especially most of the black and white ones. I think you did a great job on most of them, but there were a few that just seemed a little random, like the purple monster thing that was in the grass… But I still really like the photo that came right after it. I thought that the color and lighting in it was really good.I also really like the nest photo because it has a really nice reflection in it
I really like the shots of the For The Love, those turned out good. I like the shot of you looking into Java from the front door. That kid sitting on the bar in the blue flannel, I heard he is a stud. That’s just word on the block though, who knows. Ha. Good job man, you do really great work and I’m super impressed with you photographs every time I see them.
I think these are good pictures. They’re very down-to-earth and easy to relate to. And they all have good angles and lighting. Good job
I love these pictures, mainly because of how candid and natural they all are. The subjects are comfortable, in their natural environment, seemingly unaware from the camera. That made it possible to get some great shots of facial expressions, body language, etc.
The lighting is gorgeous, it neither too bright or too dark, which aids in making the subjects stand out rather than the environment around them.
I also love your use of blur around the edges of some people, it gave the pictures movement and flow, as well as framed the people that were in focus.
Furthermore, your pictures from around the coffee shop were taking from creative angles,as well as edited very well in order to give them a more rustic look.
My favorite picture was the picture of the baby’s feet that was taken from above. I love the angle, the way the mother is touching the baby’s leg gives it emotion, as well as the splash of color and mix of focus and blur.
Very well done!
My favorite is of Bucephalus Psychic Rat. All hail the Bucephalus Psychic Rat!!!
Good coverage of the event. There is a bit of disconnect by having some of them in color in some in black and white. If you had them all the same, they would feel more unified as the same event.
Love BFC and praying that the Lord continues to use them to bless, encourage and impact many. Nice photos!
Thank you very much! We really appreciate the support!
